Hunting

The same hunting season period and spatial restrictions apply to bird hunting as well. The exception is partridge hunting, which is permitted from 15 September through December. The fauna on the island that is of interest to hunters includes thrushes, turtle-doves, quail, woodcock and partridges.

The Paros-Antiparos Hunting Club is very energetic and active, and ensures that safety regulations are upheld and that the hunting activity takes place smoothly. In addition, it is active in the prevention and extinguishing of wildfires, organises reforestation activities and offers the area projects aimed at the protection of wild fauna and habitats. Every 19 September, on the eve of the feast day of Ayios Efstathios—patron saint of hunters—the club puts on a traditional celebration at the chapel dedicated to that saint at Marathi, on Paros.
